Tony Kelly is a practicum student at Marcescence Counselling Inc., currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of New Brunswick. His therapeutic orientation is grounded in humanistic and person-centred approaches. He views the therapeutic relationship as the primary vehicle for change and works to create a collaborative environment that supports self-determination, autonomy, and clarity. While maintaining interventional flexibility, his focus remains on helping clients discern what aligns with their own values, goals, and lived experience rather than prescribing predetermined solutions.
He has experience working in outpatient addiction recovery settings, supporting individuals navigating substance use, trauma histories, and complex psychosocial stressors. This work strengthened his commitment to trauma-informed care and reinforced the importance of safety, agency, and respect within the counselling process.
He has a particular interest in working with adults experiencing addiction-related concerns, neurodiverse adults (including autistic individuals), and adults processing traumatic experiences. His approach emphasizes understanding each person within their broader relational and systemic context, while centring their strengths and inherent capacity for growth.
His academic and research interests include workplace and life satisfaction among autistic adults, organizational performance in pharmaceutical-based addiction treatment systems, and person-centred models of addiction recovery. He remains committed to reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing professional development to ensure the delivery of ethical, evidence-informed care.
