Lisa Wright – Practicum Student

My name is Dr. Lisa Wright, and I am currently a practicum student completing myMACP at Yorkville University. I completed a Ph.D. in Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University in 2011, which has firmly rooted me within a biopsychosocial model of understanding the human mind. In 2020, I became trained to provide neurofeedback therapy to military veterans with PTSD and/or MDD, a role that I quickly developed a passion for. This led to a deep interest in cultivating a broader therapy practice.

I feel a sense of purpose in helping individuals cope with and heal from trauma, but I also hope to gain more experience helping individuals through life transitions (e.g. young adulthood; menopause; coping with the emergence of chronic pain), individuals who are considering a major life change (e.g. separation; career/job change; move),
individuals who are feeling that something is missing or out of place in their life (e.g.
feeling dissatisfied; seeking deeper spiritual connection or meaning; not fitting in; falling
apart). As a therapist, I offer cultural sensitivity around the many ways in which values
and experience differ among us. I am a straight, white, cis-gendered, able-bodied
female who uses she/her pronouns. I welcome cultural diversity in its many forms. As
we decipher your treatment goals, I will always work to understand and prioritize your
unique perspective.

Some of the therapy approaches that I rely on most include person-centered, Gestalt,
experiential, existential, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), cognitive behavioural
therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and nature-based techniques. I can’t wait to meet you
where you are at in the landscape of your therapy needs and help you decide which
approaches and techniques might be most beneficial for you.

I’m currently accepting new clients for September 2025 and I offer both virtual and in-person appointments. Please feel free to reach out to admin@mciwellness.com for any questions or to schedule an intake appointment!
