My name is Dr. Kayla Marshall, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I received a PhD in Psychology from Massey University (New Zealand) and have been working as a psychology professor at the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University since 2018. I’m really looking
forward to bringing my research and teaching experience to the therapy room, and I can’t wait to meet you.
I’m drawn to non-pathologizing and strengths-based approaches to therapy. I tend to frame psychological suffering as a normal part of the human experience, and as an opportunity to find more connection, purpose, and meaning.
A quote that I love is: “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” (Carl Rogers, 1961). As a therapist, I hope to guide people towards
more awareness and acceptance of themselves and their circumstances, so that they
may heal and grow from their challenges, and ultimately live fuller and more authentic
lives. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental, and open-minded space where you can feel safe
and free to explore whatever that looks like for you.
My current therapeutic modalities include Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I’m currently accepting new clients and I offer both virtual and in-person appointments. Please feel free to reach out to admin@mciwellness.com for any questions or to schedule an intake appointment!
