Julie McConaghy

“Ask yourselves whether a tree which is to grow proudly skywards can dispense with bad weather and storms.” — Friedrich Nietzsche

Julie McConaghy is a practitioner of growth—not just in her professional life, but in the deeper, more nuanced terrain of human development. Her work is rooted in the understanding that adversity is not a detour from the path, but part of the path itself. Drawing from the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Carl Jung’s process of individuation, and the existential belief in meaning through choice, Julie approaches her career as a living expression of conscious evolution.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Julie brings both clinical insight and therapeutic depth to her practice. She is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA and a Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate with CCTNB. Over the past thirty years, she has worked extensively in health promotion with a strong emphasis on mental health—implementing programs, facilitating healing spaces, and advocating for holistic wellbeing across diverse populations.

Julie has experience supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and challenges related to attachment and personal development. Her approach is compassionate and integrative, helping clients navigate emotional pain while fostering resilience and self-awareness.

Her professional journey has been shaped by a rich tapestry of psychological and spiritual influences. These include Gabor Maté’s trauma-informed lens, Wayne Dyer’s emphasis on intention, Eckhart Tolle’s presence-centered awareness, and Deepak Chopra’s integration of mind, body, and spirit. She is also deeply informed by Dr. James Hollis’s depth psychology and Dr. Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems model. These voices converge in Julie’s work to support healing that is both integrative and transformative.

Julie’s philosophy centers on the belief that healing and growth follow no fixed path—they unfold uniquely for each individual. She believes that when we align with our values, accept what is, and commit to what matters, we become more whole human beings.

Outside of work, Julie continues to explore the intersection of psychology and spirituality. She is a lifelong learner, a compassionate guide, and a quiet facilitator in the realm of personal development. Like the tree in Nietzsche’s quote, she welcomes the storms—not as threats, but as catalysts for deeper roots and higher reach.
